Meet the Creators

Meet the Creators

  • Artist & Designer

    Leeya Rose Jackson is a Painter, Creative Director, Filmmaker, Illustrator, and Graphic Designer from Detroit, Mi, and living in Minneapolis, MN. She runs an illustration shop under her moniker, LeeyaMakesNoise, and is the Creative Founder of Noisemakers Design Shop. Her work explores the intersections of identity, specifically Blackness, femininity, and queerness, with the added motifs of celestial/universal surrealism. Distinctive features of her work across all mediums are loud, vibrant color, maximalism, and afro-futurism.

    Her artwork has been commissioned by The Mall of America, The Four Seasons Mpls, On the Block Festival, and The University of Minnesota. Her illustration and graphic design have been commissioned by Afropunk Music Festival, American Public Media, The Coven Mpls. She is a 2024 MCAD Jerome Fellowship recipient and part of Public Functionary’s Studio Program.

  • Poet

    Tracie Webster is a poet, travel, and hospitality expert from Detroit, MI. She believes that every Black woman should have access to safe travel and materials that help them feel organized and ready to take on the world. Tracie and Leeya met in high school and bonded over their love for Harry Potter and being black girl nerds. They have been besties for over 15 years. Being able to work on this project with her best friend Leeya Jackson has been an incredible experience.
